Happy New Year.
Today is the final night of the Full Blood Moon in the year of Shadow, the time of the Dragon, 2nd cycle in the era of Dream. Now is the time to draw up your almanacs for the year of Shadow and next cycle of 13 years, I'm going to give some simple instructions and suggest you try them in your notebook first.
I live in the U.K and am Druidae so will be using celtic or in translation/traditional/modern nouns in conjunction with the standard calendar. There are many variations of culture around the world with many nouns, if you do not already have a family or regional tradition you can research and choose one that suits you best. You will notice there is some variance in the holydays that occur in the Wheel of the Year. The math is quite difficult to work out as there is a correspondence between both lunar and solar cycles and also there is shifts in the dates due to calculation errors in the calendars over the millenniums including competing calendars, and in many regions due to the importance of historical events, figures and deities.
Most people accept traditional dates, however you can also research official scientific dates of occurrence.
So in the lunar month cycle we count 13 moons; Ruish, Luis, Bethe, Nion, Saille, Fearne, Huath, Duir, Tinne, Coll, Muin, Gort, Ngetal.
In your notebook these go along the top horizontal axis, leaving a left margin clear for vertical axis for the cycle of years which are often called Houses;
Shadow, red, Dragon
Light, orange, Phoenix
Space, yellow, Butterfly
Dimension, green, Earth
Force, blue, Moon
Sound, pink, Crow
Separation, blue, Metal
Joining, green, Life
Expansion, yellow, Air
Transmutation, orange, Fire
Creation, red, Water
Flow, purple, Spirit
the Tree of Life, unfolding sky over green and gold.
Here if you write this list and draw coloured arcs from like to like, eg red to red, pink to purple, you will see the correspondence and a version of the rainbow bridge which connects the creation of reality to the world via spirit. The associated symbols here are mixed however I feel they become touchstones with many associated systems which you can fill in if you wish to. Earth, air, fire, water and spirit are the traditional elements. The colours of the rainbow pertain to the sacred pattern and wave frequencies. The Dragon, Phoenix and Butterfly are ephemerae and I shall discuss those at a later date, though please note that due to the way the pattern unfolds the others, including the Godessess, do not feature here as they correlate with complex ideals. However arguably the Time Dragon is Dimension and the Green Dragon Joining, and the god Blue is Separation, where the arc of Dimension intersects Force is the Dancer and the Tree of Life would be Baby Under the Tree. And Flow is Wosca, the Goddess.
In your note book please use the associated colours when drawing in that year, for the warming half use a lighter shade and for the cooling half a more vibrant shade. Midsummer is the central point.
Now traditionally, which is generally speaking supported by science, there is a 3 year cycle of 11, 12, 13 moons. So in Shadow we loose Luis, the light which is transmuted across all the holydays and gathers beneath the Tree, and Tinne, which is why this is often associated with sacrifice. In Light, we again sacrifice Tinne. In Space we have all the months. Rotate the pattern throughout the years, simply shading in the section with shadow.
In math when we calculate the pattern 3 becomes pi which enables 4 as representative of dimension and in this almanac we apply the Mirror. It is advisable that you leave an empty line in your notebook between each year so that when you draw in the angular intersectional lines between the mirrors and doors the four planes of dimensionality are clearly visible. I recommend silver/pencil for this.
The numbers associated with the Door are 5 and 7. There are 5 eras, which are sometimes referred to as the Faerie Courts; Dawn, Day, Twilight, Night and Dream. These are calculated by magnifying the 13 years by 1 the x the years. 13x130=1690 years to an era and 130 cycles. So Dream began in 2009 and Night in 319.a.d (See the conference in the U.K/Isles which arose texts such as the Edda and Eddas and the Green Knight and the one in Rome which produced many texts some of which are found in the bible, qu'uran and the appendices of the Torah; though there are translation issues and the content also refers to older kennings). Twilight in 1371.b.c (see the conference which originated this alphabet and 0-9 number system). Day in 3061.b.c. (see Babylon). Dawn in 4751.b.c (the Second dynasty in Egypt, the first being in the previous Day). Dream 6441.bc. (See the anciant ships of Japan, gifted by the Isles, and the updated Corae).
You will find events like these all around the world at such times, including the conferences which are also known as Great Meets where people from all over culture attend to collect the history of the last era, make plans for the next usually inclusive of a significant founding of a city or Temple or plan for scientific advance, share advances and arts, make peace of disputes or plan necessary wars and ensure the continuance of wonder and love. However due to the christian church, colonialism and facism the last Great Meet has not taken place though there have been significant meets, including the founding of the U.N, As much advance as the modern centuries have known so too have we known some of the worst tragedies, sorrow and loss. Let us hope and fight to ensure Dream returns to love and wonder and unity, that genocide ends, for the Night was truly long and dark.
Perhaps you could lay aske for this on Brigette's day.
Now, let us return to the almanac.
Each era corresponds with a focus; Dawn is beginnings and foundations. Day is creation and providence. Twilight is learning and lore. Night is art. Dream is law.
Within the cycle of years by 3 into the planar dimensions relate to a focus on forestry, arables, seafaring and making. These are marked by smaller meets.
Within each year you must denote your pale and vibrant arc by the count of 7 moons. Ignore the sacrificed moons as necessary. The pale, warming arc begins with the new moon of Ruish and accrues. The vibrant, cooling arc begins with midsummer solstice and extends as necessary into the following year. The overlap between the arcs creates the Doors and mathematically this enables the shift from circles to spheres to elliptical orbits and the Door relates to theories such as wormholes, singular shift and quantuum mechanics.
The symbols for the festivals are as follows;
Imbolc, when the veils close is marked with stars, where the staves of heating and cooling meet evenly they go above, and where the create a door the stars fill.
Briggette's Day is a snowflake.
4th moon in warming is marked with a flower, and 5th with a green frond. Beltane should fall on one of these.
Within Huath is midsummer, then after the right stave of the door is a berry for the fruits of summer which is first harvest.
4th moon of cooling is marked with a leaf of autumn which is second harvest, and 5th with a pentagram to mark star fall, the Pleiades, and the veils parting and when there is aurorae borealis. Samhain should fall on one of these. Shade the duration of the veils in purple.
Now we must find the mirrors. From the centre of the shadow of Luis draw a line down to the right stave of the door of midsummer four years down, and then up at a right angle into the shadow of Tinne. From the centre of the shadow of Tinne draw a line of equal angle to the previous one 3 years down to the left in Nion and here is where you draw a mirror. From this mirror draw a line of equal angle to the shadow of Tinne 3 years above, where the line intersects through the door of midsummer in the previous year draw a flame upon the hearth. From each mirror draw a line of equal angle down 3 years into the shadow of Tinne, where the line intersects the door of midsummer in the previous year where before we lit the flame of knowing we now place the crucible of shaping, marked usually with a V except in the first instance in the year of Dimension where we find and place a seed above the door.
All the intersecting mirror lines should create right angles, which in turn form the planes of dimensionality.
In the crucibles we shape all things, one of which is the sword of justice which is to be placed after the pentagram within the veils parting of Transmutation. In embracing justice the chalice is made and filled with gold and sits upon the door of Imbolc in Creation, the gold is found to flow in the door of midsummer in Flow. In this year the seed which was previously found is now planted safe in the shadow moon after the right stave of the vibrant, cooling arc safe within the veils.
In the Tree of life first you must note the accumulation of all of the arcs, and colour them from left to right, purple into pink, blue ,green, yellow, orange, red, and gold. It is helpful to extend these doors down a couple of lines. Midsummer is traditionally marked with a picture of a trees roots and bole. Along the floor of the heating time flows the gold of knowing. In the first door you find a seed growing.
Beneath the Tree is the bounty of all the stars, snowflakes, flowers, fronds, berries and leaves. The Mirror is made and found beneath the others reflecting the purple of wisdom. The crucible sits above the flame full of possibility. The sword is found in the golden door, and this is the door that opens to welcome you in the world and the one that returns you to spirit.
Here we find shade and rest, waiting to begin again in the Shadow.
Blessings Be
